History of our film
Robyn Stewart: flight attendant for more than fifty years, a living bridge between aviation’s past and present. She began flying before the Boeing 747’s first commercial flight and stayed aloft through seismic industry shifts: airline deregulation, the industry’s glittering golden age and its long hangover, and the trauma of September 11th. She buried her husband Henry in Frankfurt, walked into rehab, walked back out, and returned to the job she loved.
Her son Caleb grew up in airport terminals and hotel lobbies, raised by a mother whose office was at 35,000 feet. What began as a nine-minute college film project became something much larger. Golden Wings: 50 Year Flight Path is the documentary born from that evolution — a deeply human chronicle of family, career, and the stubborn instinct to keep going.
Assembled from decades of home video, rare archival footage, and candid new interviews with aviation insiders (including Jay Ricks, author of the original 747 training program, and Jock Bethune, a steward of industry lore) Golden Wings weaves personal memory with aviation history. This feature documentary highlights three generations linked by flight, exploring themes of resilience, loss, and the changing culture of air travel.
